Mattel to Launch P2P Virtual Collectibles Marketplace

Famed toymaker, Mattel, has unveiled an all-new a peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace on its Mattel Creations Virtual Collectibles Platform. According to the company’s press release, the platform will enable collectors to display, trade, and sell their Mattel virtual collectibles starting April 27. This expansion runs on the powerful Rarible framework, and aims to create a best-in-class experience for fans of Mattel’s iconic brands. 

Ron Friedman, Vice President at Mattel Future Lab, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing a superior user experience. Adding the marketplace feature to the easy-to-navigate platform allows users to buy, sell, and trade their virtual collectibles, taking Mattel’s platform to new heights.

Mattel is releasing the fifth series of its Hot Wheels NFT Garage to celebrate the marketplace launch. Developed by the same team responsible for Hot Wheels die-cast cars, Series 5 showcases some of Hot Wheels’ most popular car designs in a brand-new digital format. This digital artwork leverages Mattel’s intellectual property (IP), which has become a crucial focus for the company.
