An individual who had defrauded Rs. 1375 million via a bitcoin scam has been remanded until 06th April 2023.
According to Daily News, the suspect was arrested for carrying out the financial scam through BINANCE social media.
He was ordered to be remanded by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday after being arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
He was arrested following a complaint lodged by a female, who the suspect had joined to increase the bitcoins which belonged to her, but had defrauded her.
The CID is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
