Canada Can Get Crypto-friendly PM as Justin Trudeau Resigns

Amid the political turmoil and resignation of Justin Trudeau, some exciting news for crypto lovers is coming out from Canada’s changing political scenario. After Justin Trudeau announced his departure from the Prime Minister role and leader of the Liberal Party, there is a buzz on the prediction market that Pierre Poilievre could become the next Prime Minister of Canada. 

Popular prediction platform, Polymarket suggests an 87%  chance of Pierre Poilievre becoming the Prime Minister of Canada. Pierre Poilievre has been a vocal supporter of cryptocurrency and decentralization.  

Pierre Poilievre dismissed the impact of Justin Trudeau’s resignation announcement in a post on X, saying “nothing has changed”. He argued that the Liberals would continue to exploit Canadians for another four years, just like Justin,” and criticized them for backing Trudeau since his initial victory in 2015. 

During the campaign for the Conservative Party, Pierre Poilievre promoted cryptocurrencies as a hedge against inflation. The Ottawa-area MP’s assets include units of Purpose Bitcoin, a Canadian-based, exchange-traded fund that holds cryptocurrencies.

Will Canada Follow U.S.’s Footsteps 

After Donald Trump’s remarkable victory in the presidential election, U.S. netizens and crypto businesses are now expecting crypto-friendly policies under his new administration. During the election campaign, Donald Trump pledged to create a Bitcoin reserve.
