Here are the top stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:

1. It’s time for the Seis de Mayo Pub Crawl! The crawl is from 2 to 6 p.m. today and it’s an amazing way to try out the different restaurants and bars downtown. Grab your entry form at the first place you stop and collect stamps as you work your way through the participating spots. Once you get five stamps, hand in your entry form at any participating restaurant for a chance to win prizes. There will be tons of food and drink specials around the downtown area, along with prizes, live music and much more. 2. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office has a warning for us about a Bitcoin scam going around. New ATMs are showing up in gas stations that will change deposited money into Bitcoin, and criminals have figured out way to steal money from people using these machines. The victim will get a call, email or message telling them that their social security number has been compromised or another ruse to frighten the victim. The scammer will then tell the victim to locate a Bitcoin ATM and deposit money, but once the money is deposited, the scammers steal it. The scam has worked at least twice in our area, with each person out over $10,000, but please know that no company will ask for payment in cryptocurrency, especially an official. (Atlanta News First)
3. There’s a dog show coming up on June 28, and your family pet could be one of the stars! Cherokee Recreation & Parks is holding the event at Cherokee Veterans Park in Canton as their June Unwind Wednesday event, so there will also be food trucks, vendors and music. There are several categories, including Musical Sit, Talent Show, Best Dressed, Best Golden Oldie and Big to Small, and there are prizes for the winners. If you’d like to enter your dog, please contact the department at 770-500-8002. Your dog must be on a leash at all times and must be able to keep a respectful and safe distance from other dogs. • Farm. Fresh. Market. Head downtown to Market Street for a great place to find locally grown and created products. (8:30 a.m. – noon)
• Jewelry 101 with bamabelle: Learn basic wire wrapping skills and create two pairs of gemstone earrings. You’ll go home with a six-piece set of professional jeweler’s tools, a jeweler’s mat and tray and a take-home project. The class is at Made Mercantile, 8636 Main St. (9:30 – 11:30 a.m.)
• Kids Corner – Pop Up Party: The kids will check out the latest exhibit, “Off the Wall,” and create their own 3D pop-up card. The event is for all ages, though children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult. The event will be held at the Reeves House Studio, 734 Reeves St. (10:30 – 11:30 a.m.)
• Local Author Market: Visit local authors at their marketplace tables and attend an authors’ panel at the Woodstock Library, 7735 Main St. (10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
• Intro to Korean – Games and Culture: In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, learn a bit about the culture and the language from the KSU Korean Language Club. The event is for all ages, though children must be accompanied by an adult. There will also be games, activities and snacks to enjoy at the Rose Creek Library, 4476 Towne Lake Parkway. (3 – 4 p.m.)
• The Legend of Georgia McBride: Recommended for those 16 and older, catch the performance at the Woodstock Arts Theatre, 8534 Main St. (7:30 p.m.)
• Ngaiire: The artist is playing as part of the Lantern Series on the Event Green downtown, 113 Elm St. The musical sound is described as “R&B, future soul,” you can check out the music here. (7:30 p.m.)

• Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) has received reports that some of their Facebook followers received text messages offering discounts on CCFES T-shirts. This is a scam; they’re not even selling shirts at the moment. If you receive a message like this, don’t click the link provided. (CCFES via Facebook)
• If you were planning on attending Woodstock Parks and Recreation’s “Discovering Yoga” class today, it has been postponed. No further details have been posted yet, but the class is scheduled for every first Saturday of the month. (Woodstock Parks and Recreation)
• The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is holding its regular adoption event today, but the standard adoption fee is waived. The available animals can be seen online here. • INKED Tacos, the new restaurant in town, is continuing their grand opening / Cinco de Mayo party today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The restaurant can be found at 180 Parkway 575. • There are two book signings this weekend at FoxTale Book Shoppe. Today, Cindy Morgan will be on hand with her first book, “The Year of Jubilee.” You can order a hand-signed copy here, the meet and greet is from noon to 2 p.m. Tomorrow, local author Terri Kozlowski will be at the shop with her first book “Raven Transcending Fear.” There will be books to purchase at the 2 p.m. meet and greet.
