Azuki Partners with Aniplex to Bring the Fate Series to Anime.com

Web3 anime-themed project Azuki has partnered with Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Japan and a leading producer of anime content.

This partnership aims to expand the reach of the popular Fate franchise through Anime.com, starting with limited-edition Fate/strange Fake digital collectibles.

The first release, which is a series of four limited-edition digital sticker sets, will be available starting November 23.

What is Aniplex?

Aniplex, founded in 1995, is an entertainment company that produces, licenses, and distributes anime, films, games, and merchandise. It is best known for its role in producing popular anime franchises such as Demon Slayer, Sword Art Online, and Fullmetal Alchemist.

One of its most enduring properties is the Fate series, which began in 2004 as a visual novel and has expanded into a global franchise with anime adaptations, games, and films.

The franchise has been commercially successful, generating billions in revenue over the past two decades.

Why is this collaboration significant?

Aniplex has traditionally focused on more conventional media and merchandise, whilst Azuki specializes in blockchain-based digital assets.

The collaboration provides a test case for how anime properties might use blockchain technology to create new forms of engagement. It is also notable because blockchain technology has faced resistance from some anime fans due to concerns about speculative practices.

The partnership will likely serve as an indicator of whether blockchain can be integrated into anime culture in ways that resonate with audiences.

What else can we expect from this partnership?

The first initiative under the partnership will be the release of Fate/strange Fake digital sticker sets, available exclusively on Anime.com starting November 23.

The release will coincide with a live stream event on Anime.com, designed to provide updates and additional context about the collaboration.

No additional offerings have been officially announced, but the companies have indicated that this partnership could expand to include further digital experiences and ways for fans to interact with the Fate series.
