Bad Cinderella Brings NFTs to Broadway

Highly anticipated musical, ‘Bad Cinderella’ is the latest theater production to launch an NFT collection. “The Queen’s VIP Pass,” the first digital collectible for the eagerly awaited musical, will give fans exclusive access to behind-the-scenes content, digital merchandise, early access to arts, first looks into the kingdom and other fan-related content before the show opens on Broadway. Furthermore, those completing “The Queen’s Collection” by acquiring all the NFTs in the series, will be rewarded with a special bonus NFT – a digital poster featuring the combined artwork from the Bad Cinderella show. Those who collect the entire set of collectibles will enter into a contest to win one of ten autographed physical merchandise of the Bad Cinderella art poster, both online and at the theater.

The Broadway Exchange and Bad Cinderella have taken an innovative approach to combining the arts and technology with their project. Utilizing the Flow blockchain and available for free on its marketplace, the show has created limited-edition digital collectibles to support their performances and artists. This idea is a great way to promote the show and get more people to watch it. As NFTs are based on blockchain technology, ownership and authenticity of the digital objects are guaranteed, making them valuable assets in the music and art industries. With the use of digital tokens, these unique items are sure to become highly sought-after.

The new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical adopts NFTs

With a script by Oscar Award-winner Emerald Fennel, music by famous composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, and lyrics by Tony Award-winner David Zippel, the new musical “Bad Cinderella” tells the classic story in a whole new way. Starring Linedy Genao as Cinderella, the Imperial Theatre will start performances on February 17th and open on March 23rd.

The musical “Bad Cinderella,” originally premiering under the title “Cinderella” on the West End in 2021, offered a fresh take on the classic fairytale. The show challenged the traditional power dynamics and the portrayal of the princess archetype in fairytale romances. However, COVID-19 complications and internal issues caused the London run to close prematurely in June 2022, leaving many cast members stunned by the sudden news. On October 3rd 2022, the show announced its transfer to Broadway, with a new name and cast.

The “Bad Cinderella” team is excited to offer their fans the chance to own a piece of the musical. They have even created an animated musical video that shows the characters “dancing” to their theme song. The NFT collection is the latest example of a Broadway production using blockchain to engage with its fans.
